The day after going to Labuk bay we travelled from Sandakan to the island of Langkawi, this is the relaxing part of the honeymoon so we were just planning on sitting on the beach and swimming in the pool. Unfortunately as seems to be standard here, the second we got in a taxi it started to chuck down with rain, our taxi driver assured us that it never rains for longer than 30 minutes. 4 hours later we were staring out the window of the hotel room watching the rain.

It never stopped so we ate in the hotel and went to bed. The next day the sun was out so we sat round the pool, drinking in the pool bar and lounging in the jacuzzi. Never used a pool bar before, it’s an odd feeling drinking a beer with a wet bum and legs. I’d definitely recommended it though.

Having spent most of the day round the pool we went out for some Thai food in the evening that was delicious and only cost about £15. The next day we went to the beach, the sand was so soft that it squeaked when you ran on it, the sea was warm and shallow so you could paddle or go further in for a swim.

That night we went to the lighthouse restaurant to sample the award winning food. It didn’t let us down and our table was right on the beach so we could enjoy the sunset.

Today we hired a car and took a drive to the main town of Kuah, that’s where the giant Eagle statute was, it’s much larger than we thought it was going to be. We have the car for tomorrow and are planning on going to the waterfall and the cable car so pop back and see how we get on.
